How to report work on Prism that infringes your copyright, and how to answer a report about yours.
Last updated October 5, 2026
Prism respects the rights of people who make things, and expects everyone who uploads to Prism to do the same (see the Creator Terms). Prism responds to notices of infringement under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA).
1. Reporting infringement
If you believe something on Prism infringes a copyright you own or act for, send a written notice to Prism's designated copyright agent at copyright@prism.games. To be valid under the DMCA, it must include:
- your physical or electronic signature, as the owner or as someone authorized to act for the owner;
- the copyrighted work you say is infringed, or a representative list if there are several;
- the material you say infringes, with enough detail for Prism to find it, such as the address of its page on Prism;
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
Signed in to Prism, you can also report a game, a mod or a mashup as someone else's work from its page; for a copyright claim, include the details above. Under the DMCA, someone who knowingly misrepresents that material infringes can be liable for the damages that causes. Consider whether the use might be fair use or otherwise allowed before you report it.
2. What Prism does
When Prism receives a valid notice, it removes or disables access to the material promptly and tells whoever uploaded it, with a copy of the notice or its substance and how to answer it. Prism may share the notice, without the reporter's personal contact details, with the uploader and with services that collect takedown notices.
3. Counter-notices
If your material was removed by mistake or because it was misidentified, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and telephone number; and
- a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where your address is, or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Prism may be found, and that you'll accept service of process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.
Prism sends the counter-notice to whoever sent the notice. Unless they tell Prism within 10 business days that they've filed a lawsuit to stop the infringement, Prism restores the material within 10 to 14 business days of receiving the counter-notice.
4. Repeat infringers
Each removal after a valid notice, and each removal Prism makes itself for someone else's work, counts as a strike against the account that uploaded it. A strike lifts after 12 months, or when a counter-notice restores the material or the notice is withdrawn. Prism ends the account of anyone with three strikes at once, with everything it published, and may end one sooner where the infringement is clear and deliberate, such as uploading another maker's game as one's own. Someone whose account was ended may not open another.
5. Reports from the European Union
Anyone can report content they consider illegal under the law of an EU country, copyright included, from its page on Prism or by email to copyright@prism.games. Explain why it's illegal, say exactly where it is, give your name and email address, and confirm that you believe in good faith that your report is accurate and complete. Prism confirms that it received your report, decides on it carefully and objectively, and tells you what it decided and how you can challenge that. Whoever the decision concerns gets its reasons and can appeal it within six months, and may also take it to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
