Creator Guidelines

What you can publish on Prism, what every build needs, and the rules everyone here follows.

The short version

  • Publish games and mods you made, or have the rights to share.
  • No malware, miners or obfuscated code: every build is checked automatically.
  • Show your game as it is, with its own screenshots and an honest description.
  • Treat players and other creators with respect, in your game and around it.
  • A new studio's first build gets a quick look from our team before players see it.

Prism's rules

These rules apply to everything on Prism: games, mods, store pages, profiles, comments and messages. When we take something down, our notice names the rule it broke and links here.

  • Spam and scams

No ads nobody asked for, no posting the same thing over and over, and no tricking people out of money, accounts or personal details.

  • Harassment and bullying

No threatening, bullying, hounding or shaming anyone, and no sharing someone's private details without their consent.

  • Hate

No attacking or demeaning people for who they are, such as their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sex, gender, sexual orientation or disability.

  • Sexual content

No sexual content outside games marked for adults, and never anything sexual involving minors.

  • Violence and self-harm

No threats of violence, no praising violent acts, and no encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.

  • Impersonation

No pretending to be another person, a studio or Prism itself.

  • Malware

No software that harms people's devices, spies on them, or takes their accounts, files or money.

Every program and script is scanned as you upload it. A build with malware, a crypto miner or code that steals passwords, tokens or wallets is rejected.

  • Obfuscated code

Builds can't contain packed, protected or obfuscated code of any kind, such as programs packed with UPX or protected with Themida or VMProtect, scrambled scripts, or encrypted code archives.

Minified code from tools such as webpack, terser or esbuild is fine, and so are compiled game formats such as Unity's IL2CPP or an unencrypted Godot .pck. A rejection notice names the file and what was found.

  • Not a game

Builds must be games: Prism doesn't host websites, shops, landing pages or sign-in pages.

A web build with nothing to draw a game with, such as a canvas, WebGL, WebAssembly or a known engine, or with fields that ask for passwords or card numbers, waits for our team to look at it.

  • Someone else's work

No sharing games, art, music or other work you don't have the rights to.

If someone shares your work without your permission, tell us as the Copyright Policy explains.

  • Misleading games

No describing a game as something it isn't, on its store page, in its media or in its builds.

Screenshots, videos and descriptions show the game players actually get.

  • Illegal content

Nothing that breaks the law where it's shared or seen.

What every build needs

Every upload is checked automatically. If a build needs a fix, Prism Studio says what to change, and you upload it again.

Web builds

  • A .zip of your game's web export, up to 1.1 GB, holding at most 1 GB and 20,000 files once unpacked.
  • A page to start at: an index.html at the top of the zip, or pick one when there are several.
  • No programs such as .exe files: upload those as a desktop build.
  • Plain files only: no links, special files or paths that lead outside the zip.
  • Each game keeps up to 2 GB of web builds, and a studio's games 10 GB together.

Desktop builds

  • A .zip for Windows, Linux or macOS, up to 4 GB, or a push from Prism's command line (prism push).
  • At most 100,000 files and 16 GB once unpacked.
  • A program that starts the game on its system. When there are several, pick the one players launch.
  • On macOS, code for Apple silicon must be signed, even if only with the ad-hoc signature Apple's linker adds.
  • Both 32-bit and 64-bit builds are welcome.

Your store page

  • To publish, your page needs a name and a cover.
  • Before your game goes public, it also needs at least 5 tags and the content survey's answers, about violence and generative AI.
  • Up to 10 screenshots, each of the game itself.
  • Names are up to 100 characters, short descriptions up to 200 and descriptions up to 20,000.

How review works

  • The checks run within minutes of an upload. A build that passes them goes out by itself.
  • A new studio's first build waits for a quick look from our team, whatever the checks say.
  • A build that looks like a website rather than a game waits for our team too.
  • If we reject a build or take something down, everyone in your studio gets a notice naming the rule, and you can appeal it.

These guidelines sit alongside the Creator Terms and the Copyright Policy, which you accept when you publish.
